Internal homophobia is the sense of shame and fear, caused by one’s own homosexuality.

I’m human. A woman, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a city-dweller, a friend, a pedestrian, a colleague… even a citizen. I change from one character to another immediately depending on situation. Buying a metro ticket I’m the passenger, standing in the bank queue, I’m the credit card holder. Every person has these characters, and in any moment (if only he’s not sitting on his favorite sofa, thinking about philosophy) he’s playing a role. Lesbian is also a role, because it supposes relationships with other people. Being lesbian in complete loneliness is impossible. If only you imagine another woman, you are not alone in your fictitious world, where Angelina Jolie and Xena the warrior’s princesses live.

    Я всю жизнь убегала от себя, от этого знания, кто я такая, а не так давно - перестала. Это и облегчение о огромная тяжесть одновременно. А ребенок вырос с ощущением, что “у мамы просто не сложилась личная жизнь”. Ему скоро 11, и я не знаю что ему говорить на это и молчу. Родителям под 70, и я точно знаю, что уж им-то говорить этого точно не надо - сердце, нервы - и опять молчу. Я и имени-то своего настоящего не скажу, совру. Только сказать хотела, что от Ва?ей статьи мне чуточку легче стало. Как будто я не одна теперь, не одна несу этот груз. Чуть-чуть легче.
