Pickett aimed at drawing attention to the social danger homophobia was to be held in the Chernyshevsky Garden on April 11. But the administration of the Central district of the city refused to permit human rights defenders to hold this public event. Officials recommended that the possibility of picketing at another time be considered, but offered no specific date, which was the reason for court appeal.

Petersburg City Court agreed with the arguments of the administration of the Central District, that the law does not oblige it in case of refusal for permission of an event to provide alternative time or place.

“We took into account the arguments of the district administration, and the next time we go for our public events at a convenient time for us” - said the Director of LGBT organizations “Coming Out” Igor Kochetkov (Petrov).

Let us remind that so far St. Petersburg authorities have not permitted any public event of the representatives of the LGBT community.
