NEWS 09.06.2008 Lezzy Think Tank Took Place in a Warm and Productive Atmosphere NEW! A seminar/work group called Lezzy Think Tank took place last Saturday, September 6, in St. Petersburg. The organizers, Anna Viola Hallberg and Annica Karlsson Rixon, or just Anna and Annica - Swedish artists - free, creative, inspired, and amazingly beautiful Women. 08.25.2008 Summer School for LGBT Activists of Russia Took Place in St. Petersburg NEW! From August 18 to August 24, the Russian LGBT Network and the St. Petersburg Public Organization Coming Out, with financial support by the Swedish Helsinki Committee, conducted a Summer School for LGBT activists of Russia. In addition to the representatives of St. Petersburg, the Summer School was also attended by the Petrozavodsk LGBT Organization Krug-Kareliya, the Tyumen Public Organization Rainbow House, the Moscow LGBT Organization LGBT Rights, the Krasnoyarsk LGBT Organization SDG, and by initiative groups from Kemerovo, Voronezh, and Kazyan. 08.15.2008 Summer School for the LGBT Activists of Russia From August 18 to August 24, the Russian LGBT Network of organizations and the St. Petersburg Public Organization Coming Out, with financial support by the Swedish Helsinki Committee, will hold a Summer School for LGBT activists of Russia. Besides the activists from St. Petersburg, LGBT activists from Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Kazan, Moscow, and Tyumen will participate in the Summer School. 08.10.2008 Coming Out at EuroPride: How It Went We would like to tell you how it went. We brought back with us thousands of pictures and a charge of positive emotions. On August 13 you will be able to see something that others have not seen on their TV screens, you will be able to ask questions and get answers. 08.05.2008 Russia at EuroPride The capital of Sweden, Stockholm, hosted EuroPride – the Pride Festival for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people - from July 25 to August 3, 2008. At EuroPride, Russia was represented by a delegation from the Russian LGBT Network of organizations, which included representatives of the St. Petersburg Public Organization Coming Out. 07.18.2008 Podcast News: Inner Homophobia According to the Oxford English Dictionary, originally, the word homophobia meant "fear of men, or aversion to the male gender." 07.18.2008 LGBT Activists Participated in Summer School for Human Rights in Moscow July 5-13, a Summer School for Human Rights took place in Moscow, organized by the Moscow Helsinki Group and the Youth Human Rights Movement. For nine days of intensive training, the school participants from twenty different regions of Russia, as well as Ukraine and Moldova, learned various aspects of Human Rights, and the possible actions, mechanisms, and tactics for human rights protection, and talked about NGO management, fundraising, etc. More to Come... 07.18.2008 Russian Delegation to Officially Participate in Europride At Europride, Russia will be represented, among others, by the Public Organization Coming Out of St. Petersburg and by the Tyumen Public Organization Rainbow House (Raduzhny Dom). More to Come... 07.17.2008 The Organization Coming Out to Support Film Festival Side by Side. This decision was made by the general meeting of the public organization Coming Out. Organization members will provide volunteer support for the Festival. More to Come...
07.02.2008 The Organization Coming Out Joins the Russian Podcasting Space On July 1, the Organization Coming Out began broadcasting in the Russian podcasting space. One can find the new community, Êâèð-Èíôî (Queer-Info), at queer-info.rpod.ru This podcast community became a singular voice of the LGBT community in the podcasting space. More to Come...
06.28.2008 Stonewall Anniversary and the First Gay and Lesbian Rights March in the World An armed conflict between gays, lesbians, and the police, took place the night of June 28, 1969 in the city of New York. The conflicts arose as a result of the police raid on the gay bar called Stonewall Inn. The police met with firm resistance from the bar visitors and other members of the gay community who joined them. This uprising is considered to have marked the beginning of the contemporary gay and lesbian rights movement. On June 28, 1970, the first ever gay and lesbian rights march took place in memory of the Stonewall uprising. This march is now annual and is one of the largest gay parades in the world, the Christopher Street Day. More to Come... 06.25.2008 The LGBT Movement in St. Petersburug Now Has a Flag June 25, 2008, is the 30th anniversary of the rainbow flag, the international symbol of sexual minority movement (LGBT movement) for equal rights. On this day, the LGBT activists of the Public Organization Coming Out of St. Petersburg will present the public with the flag of the LGBT movement of St. Petersburg. More to Come... | ||||
