“I want to bring the situation with the acception of people living with HIV outside the pattern when everybody knows “it is safe, it is not transmitted”, but is still scared,” - sais Lida.

Children with positive and negative HIV status posed for photographs. Portraits of children are taken in such a way so as not to show the entire faces. Only under these two conditions the anonymity and safety of the HIV-positive models can be guaranteed.

Positive Children

draftThis summer, photographer Lida Mikhailova (exhibitions “I’m a lesbian. Do people around know about it? “,” Out of the closet”), made a wonderful project, “Positive Children”.

The photo shooting involved children with positive and negative HIV status. The project aims to draw attention to the problem of discrimination and prejudice against HIV-positive children.

“I want to bring the situation with the acception of people living with HIV outside the pattern when everybody knows “it is safe, it is not transmitted”, but is still scared, - sais Lida.

Calling attention to the HIV-positive children, we want to get the idea to the public that:

  • HIV+ children can go to regular kindergarten
  • HIV+ children can play with their peers
  • HIV+ children (most of whom today are orphans) can live in a family
  • HIV+ children should not be much-feared

The exhibition will run from September 15 to October 15 at Loft Project Etazhi.

Many friends of the Queer Culture Festival

klaus_wowereit

This year, the Festival was supported by many famous artists, journalists, actors, directors, and even politicians from Europe, America and Russia. We want to share with you the inspiration we got from the many words in support!

Klaus Wowereit - Governing Mayor of Berlin:

“The organizers of this year’s festival chose an important slogan. It reads “The Art of Being Yourself”. This motto, as I understand it, is not only a call to every individual to be confident of him or herself and to accept differences of others, but also calls for a fair society built upon mutual respect, for a society that sees diversity as an enrichment and not as a blemish. In other words, the fight against discrimination and for equal civil rights is not just a small, insignificant issue. When someone limits people’s opportunities because of their religion, their skin color or sexual orientation, it threatens the whole society. It is a question about the basic rules of our coexistence. It is about central values of humanity, tolerance and the freedom to be different from others…
